All instructional classes meet at Rosenwald  community center, unless stated otherwise.  Preregistration required for all classes, but  participants may start any time.

Beginning Square Dance Lessons

Learn-by-Doing square dance lessons are starting soon! Instructor/caller will be George Jordan from Staunton, along with assistance from members of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club. Two FREE open house introductory lessons will be held on Tuesday, Sept 20 and Sept 27. Come give it a try. If square dancing is for you, sign up for 15 progressive lessons for $75/ person. Family rates are available. Square dancing is great family fun, great body and mind exercise, and a great way to met and make new friends. Call 649-1109 to register.

Hula Hoop Making Class

Come learn how to make your own hula hoop, y'all!!  We'll make our hoops, wrap them with various colors of electrical tape to decorate them, and then practice using them while we listen to some music.    All ages welcome, just please be sure that all minors are accompanied by a parent/guardian who can help them through the processes.

Plant-Based Foods Discussion Group

Explore the potential benefits of plant-based eating and how it may help to reverse and better manage certain health issues.  The group will discuss how food gets to your plate, what is real food vs. food-like substances, which foods create an abundance of mucus, food combining, and the basics of the digestive process.  A great opportunity to learn how to be your own best advocate for wellness via the end of your fork.

Lunch-time Yoga

Join instructor Trish LaGrua to focus on the foundations of yoga... physical postures and conscious breath.  Yoga is good for the mind as well as the body and students of all levels will enjoy this Vinyasa (to flow) style practice.  Dress for movement and relaxation, and bring water and a yoga mat if you have one.

NRA Home Firearm Safety/Can You Survive 3 Seconds?

This course for safe gun handling is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA's three rules for safe gun handling, primary causes of firearms accidents, firearm parts, how to load & unload certain action types, ammunition components, cleaning, care, safe storage of firearms and ammunition and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, Course Completion Certificate. Safety comes before all else. This class will meet requirements for the Virginia Concealed Carry Permit. *Only individuals 21 and older can apply for the concealed Carry Permit.

Walk with a Doc
Beginning in April, enjoy wonderful conversation and a Saturday morning walk with a local physician and other community members along the Greenway.  Meet at Dominion Shelter at Constitution Park.  Inclement weather location is Rosenwald Community Center.   (Due to construction on Main St. bridge, you will need to use Short St. entrance and park in designated area of Invista parking lot.)

​Ballroom Dance Classes

 These classes will give you confidence, grace, and lots of enjoyment as you head out to the dance floor.  Learn (or brush up on) popular dances such as: the Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Cha-Cha and the Rumba.  Experienced instructor, Donald Dollins, will be offering two different level classes… one for beginners and another for intermediate dancers.   These are ongoing classes, and will continue as long as there is interest.
