All instructional classes meet at Rosenwald  community center, unless stated otherwise.  Preregistration required for all classes, but  participants may start any time.

NRA Home Firearm Safety/Can You Survive 3 Seconds?

This course for safe gun handling is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA's three rules for safe gun handling, primary causes of firearms accidents, firearm parts, how to load & unload certain action types, ammunition components, cleaning, care, safe storage of firearms and ammunition and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, Course Completion Certificate. Safety comes before all else. This class will meet requirements for the Virginia Concealed Carry Permit. *Only individuals 21 and older can apply for the concealed Carry Permit.

Ballroom Dance Classes

 These classes will give you confidence, grace, and lots of enjoyment as you head out to the dance floor.  Learn (or brush up on) popular dances such as: the Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Cha-Cha and the Rumba.  Experienced instructor, Donald Dollins, will be offering two different level classes… one for beginners and another for intermediate dancers.   These are ongoing classes, and will continue as long as there is interest. There's no better time than the present to GET FIT FOR LIFE! This class can help you on your way by burning fat and relieving stress, while doing hi / low impact aerobics to up-beat music. Instructor: Penny Gilbert

Stretch and Tone
Though geared toward seniors, anyone can benefit from this morning exercise program which provides a good opportunity for toning up problem areas as well as a chance to meet new friends.  Rubber bands and mats are furnished for your convenience. Instructor: Ann Hutchens

Tai Chi for Beginners

The study of the Yang style 6-form, the beginning set in the study of Yang Tai Chi. It is designed to increase energy and encourage focused concentration, leading to a sense of calm and well-being. Instructor: Linda Smoke, Certified Instructor in Tai Chi for Diabetes and Tai Chi for Arthritis

We will also introduce you to Kimchi, a Korean specialty. Your body will thank you! Soft Cheese Making Class

Have you ever tasted fresh cream cheese?  Cream cheese so rich you would trade it for the store bought package in a second?  How about making fresh dairy products such as yogurt, kefir and buttermilk?  All of these products are made with cultures.  Learn the proper way to care for direct set cultures and how to manufacture mother cultures. These cheeses are all made with cultures and take approximately 12-24 hours from start to finish. Participants will be able to view the cheeses at their various stages in the process.
