In the Fall of 2013 the Public Works Department joined forces with the Rotary Club to kick-off a pilot composting program. Through a grant awarded to the local Rotary Chapter, and with city support, backyard composters are to be purchased and distributed, free of charge, to residents wishing to participate in resource sustainability. Data will be collected during the fall / winter season to help us understand the impact composting has on solid waste management. The ultimate goal of this effort is to peak interest in implementing a city-wide composting program. If you are interested in participating in the pilot project, please contact the Public Works Administration.
