FY 18 TANF funds will be used to support programs offered by Shenandoah Valley Head Start and a collaboration between the Staunton/Augusta YMCA and Staunton City Schools. Outcomes include improved skills for educational success.
There are more restrictions on the use of TANF funds than there are on either federal CSBG or local funds currently administered by CAPSAW. In order to be eligible for reimbursement from TANF the following conditions must exist:
Services are provided to a family that includes a minor child, i.e., an individual less than 18 years old, or, if a full-time student in a secondary school (or the equivalent level of vocational or technical training) less than 19 years old, who resides with the family, or a pregnant individual.
The income level of the family must be at or below 200% of poverty. Please note this income level is HIGHER than that of CAPSAW’s general funding at 125% of poverty.
