Each year the Virginia Rural Water Association (VRWA) honors Virginia’s exceptional utility providers for outstanding achievement in the water and wastewater industries. At VRWA’s Annual Awards Ceremony, hosted in Roanoke on April 18th, the City of Waynesboro’s Wastewater Treatment Plant was selected from dozens of applicants to receive the prestigious “Small System of the Year” award. The City was recognized for noteworthy accomplishments to include:
• Effective and efficient wastewater treatment operations;• Regulatory compliance and protection of waters of the South River and the Chesapeake Bay; and• Staff performance, including state licensure, training, continuing education, and overall wastewater operations knowledge.At its May 14 meeting, the Waynesboro City Council commended Plant Engineer Ross Morland, Chief Operator Troy Eppard and the wastewater treatment plant staff for their effort and accomplishment.
