The City is initiating a new program utilizing its Reverse 911 system which will notify property owners with sewer back flow prevention valves when it becomes necessary to regulate the inflow gates at the waste water treatment plant. The Reverse 911 system will provide notification by telephone, email, and/or text message. The gates are typically regulated during periods of heavy or prolonged rain which causes the sanitary sewer collection system to become inundated, and it is necessary to regulate flow at the plant. The notification is intended to alert you to these conditions and prompt you to engage your back-flow prevention valve.
The City anticipates that the completion of its new waste water treatment facility will likely eliminate the need to regulate the gates at the plant; however, the City will maintain the program of notification in the event that it would be necessary to regulate flow.
