The City of Waynesboro recruits to fill vacancies for full-time, part-time, seasonal and/or any special positions through a variety of means depending on the position. These include:
Local newspaper media in Waynesboro, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville and other locations as needed.

* Virginia Employment Commission (VEC)
* Local Government Channel (Channel 7 in Waynesboro)
* Internet

All advertised positions will also be posted in the Human Resources Office.

Each position advertised will include as a minimum the following: position, department, duties and responsibilities, qualifications, any special requirements, application procedures and closing date.

Note:
Applications are not accepted for any position unless there is a current recruitment activity to fill that position. There is one exception - Police Officer.


All applicants must complete a Waynesboro City Application and may attach a resume if desired. All applicants offered employment will be required to submit to a drug test. Public Safety positions (fire, police) also require physicals and/or physical agility tests and written tests.

The schematic list of classes shows the different types of job opportunities available within the Waynesboro Municipal Government. There may be additional positions added as needed to meet operational requirements or as the result of grants, special programs, etc.
