In addition to working with youth, the Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth (OOY) recognizes the importance of families in the lives of youth and in the community.
The primary function of the OOY’s Parenting Services is to offer parenting classes to the community. The goal of the parenting classes that are offered is to educate and assist parents in creating strong healthy families. Most parenting classes are open to the general public. The OOY offers the following parenting classes.

Divorce or parental separation is a painful and confusing experience for all children. The goal of the program is to provide adults with the knowledge and skills to safely nurture children through this difficult process. The workshop is facilitated by a licensed therapist.

The Office on Youth manages the Department of Social Services program Promoting Safe and Stable Families for Waynesboro residents. Waynesboro families in need of emergency financial or familial assistance can receive emergency funds to cover immediate financial needs. Families must first visit the Salvation Army and be screened. After being screened by the Salvation Army, families may be referred to the OOY as potential candidates to receive assistance. Through this program families can receive assistance with such things as rent payments, utility bills, daycare costs, counseling co-pays, and/or in-home parenting services.
***If you are in need of emergency assistance please contact the Salvation Army.
