Overnight Burglary

The Waynesboro Police Department is currently investigating an overnight burglary to a city convenience store. On Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 4:30am, officers responded to the Wilco convenience store, 2601 W Main St, when store employees arriving for work discovered that the front doors of the business had been forced open. Officers checked the business for intruders but none were found. The evidence left behind indicates that likely more than one perpetrator was involved.
After entering the store, the intruders quickly disabled the alarm which prevented police from being notified. Then, they accessed the store’s safe and stole the cash within. The store’s surveillance equipment was also disabled so no images of the intruders are available. The burglary happened sometime between 12:30am, when the store closed, and 4:15am.

North Carolina Fugitive

On Saturday, February 13, 2010, officers with the Waynesboro Police Department arrested a fugitive wanted from North Carolina. Rickie Whack, 23 years old, of Greensboro, NC was apprehended on a routine traffic stop shortly after 11:00 pm on
W Main St near the city limits. Whack was wanted by three North Carolina localities on various charges and was considered armed and dangerous. He was taken in custody without incident.
The charges against Whack include burglary in Moore County; escape in Pinehurst; and drug charges in Greensboro. There are no Virginia charges against him.
Whack is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail. He scheduled to appear in Waynesboro General District on February 19 for an extradition hearing.
Discharging of Firearm during Domestic Disturbance results in Arrest

The Waynesboro Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1600 block of N. Delphine Ave. last night (02/17/10) at about 8:30 P.M. Upon arrival officers were told by the 63year old female resident that she had been involved in a verbal dispute with her estranged husband when he produced a pistol, pointed at her dog and threatened to shoot it. She persuaded him not to shoot the dog at which time he discharged the weapon into a wall behind the victim. He then is reported to have assaulted the victim as well as smashed a coffee table prior to leaving the residence.
Officers obtained several arrest warrants for Chad Allen Hagerman, 44, and served them at approximately 6:17 A.M. this morning at his Waynesboro residence, where they also recovered ammunition and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with: Assault and Battery of a Family or Household Member, Discharging a Firearm in an occupied building, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Destroying Property. He was held without bond and transported to Middle River Regional jail.
Charges Placed in Arson

The Waynesboro Police Department has obtained felony warrants for an 18 year old Waynesboro man in connection with a November 30th arson fire that heavily damaged a residence located at 116 Concord Place. In addition, he is being charged with Possession of an X-Box 360 that was reported stolen from the same residence during an earlier burglary on November 21, 2009. The suspect, who was charged the morning of the fire along with a juvenile with Breaking and Entering Billy Frye’s Convenience store to steal cigarettes, remains in custody at MRRJ on those charges and will be served with the new warrants as soon as practical.
Kainain ST. Onge, currently of Middle River Regional Jail is being charged with: Arson, Break and Enter with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Possess / Receive Stolen Property.
Giving False Report Arrest

Waynesboro Police arrested Wendy Michele Earney of Waynesboro for “knowingly give a false report as to the commission of a crime to a law enforcement official with the intent to mislead” which occurred on December 7, 2009.
The charge is a result of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Waynesboro on December 7, 2009.
Home Invasion Unfounded

An Investigation into a woman’s report that she was sexually assaulted by a male subject after he had forced his way into her South – East Waynesboro home has been closed as unfounded. Investigators were concerned with several inconsistencies as well as statements of fact that could not be corroborated and interviewed the alleged victim for a third time this morning when she admitted to making the false report.
Charges of” Making a False Report of a Crime” are pending further investigation and consultation.
