Click It or Ticket 2013

Beginning Monday, May 20 the Waynesboro Police Department will be participating in Click It or Ticket, the nationwide safe driving campaign that promotes seat belt and child safety seat usage. During the two week campaign, police officers will be targeting drivers who are not wearing seat belts or who have unrestrained children in their vehicles. The Police Department will have extra officers out during high traffic hours participating in the enforcement.
The Click It or Ticket campaign continues the Police Department’s safe streets initiative that yielded six DUI arrests in just over a twenty-four hour period this past weekend. One of the arrestees,
Philogene McAlan White, 40 years old of Waynesboro, was cited for his sixth arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. His charges are a felony, driving under the influence of alcohol subsequent offense in 10 years and two misdemeanors, driving on a suspended license due to a DUI conviction and refusal of a breath test. He is being held on bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
Click It or Ticket is a campaign sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
Arrest: Jon Jackson

On Friday, May 17, 2013 the Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Waynesboro man in a drug sting at an apartment in the 200 block of South Delphine Ave. Using a search warrant, the Deparment’s SWAT team raided the apartment and located Jon Dennis Jackson, Jr., 27 years old, with a large amount of marijuana (stored in plastic containers and labeled with different street names), drug distribution paraphernalia and over $3,300 in cash. Officers arrested Jackson on one felony count of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He was transported to Middle River Regional Jail where he was released on a $5000 bond.
Felonious Assualt: Wilmott

Deputies from the Augusta County Sheriff's Department arrested Leslie Terrell Wilmott at Briarwood Apartments on this date. An anonymous tipster called Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers and provided his whereabouts. He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.


The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Staunton woman and is currently looking for her brother, also a Staunton resident, for a felonious assault against a Waynesboro woman that occurred earlier this year. Sudana Louise Wilmott, 23 years old, surrendered herself at the Police Department on May 16 on three felony warrants: felonious assault, burglary and assault by mob. She is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail. Her brother, Leslie Terrell Wilmott, 27 years old, is wanted on three felony warrants as well, felonious assault/principal 2nd degree, burglary and assault by mob. A 17 year old male juvenile from Nelson County is also facing the same charges.
The investigation into the assault revealed that both Wilmotts and the juvenile went to the 26 year old female victim’s home in the 600 block of N Delphine Ave on February 16, 2013. After the victim opened her door to greet the three, Sudana Wilmott struck her repeatedly in the face. Leslie Wilmott and the juvenile prevented anyone from coming to the aid of the victim while she was attacked. She sustained a broken nose and several contusions.
Initially, Sudana Wilmott was charged with assault and battery. On May 13, that charge was nolle prosequi by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office in Waynesboro General District Court and forwarded the case to a police detective for an investigation.

Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously. Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
Colonel Ronnie W. Quick

Members of the Waynesboro Police Department and Waynesboro Police Reserve are saddened to report the death of retired Colonel Ronnie W. Quick, 70 years old, of the Department’s police reserve force. He is fondly remembered by his former colleagues as a stately, dignified gentleman who proudly served the City and mentored many officers, both regular and reserve.
Colonel Quick was 31 year veteran of the Police Reserve when he retired in 2012. He began his career with the reserve force in 1981 when he was sworn in by then city manager, Charles T. Yancey. Colonel Quick quickly rose through the ranks of the Reserve force and was made Colonel in 2002. It is unknown the specific number of hours he contributed to the Police Department in his years at the Department, but it is likely to be around 40,000. However, his actual contribution to members of the Police Department, Police Reserves and the citizens of Waynesboro is immeasurable since he affected so many lives in his three decades of service.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by the family.
Powell: Multiple Crahes Arrest

- Powell was released from Middle River Regional Jail on a $1000 bond. A charge for felony hit & run is still pending.
- In the S Delphine Ave accident, the 44 year old female driver of the 2008 Kia sedan, was not transported to the hospital, but her two passengers, both children under the age of three, were. They did not appear to have received serious injuries from the crash.

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Stuart Draft woman for causing a series of motor vehicle crashes which took place over a two mile distance on the City’s east side. On May 15, 2013 at approximately 8:55 PM, officers responded to the 1800 block of East Main St for a report of a three vehicle crash with one of the vehicles having fled the scene. Officers determined that a hit & run driver traveling west rear ended a 2004 Kia Sorento driven by a 64 year old Waynesboro man. The impact sent the Kia into a parked 1974 Plymouth sedan. Both the driver and his 61 year old female passenger were transported by the Waynesboro First Aid Crew to Augusta Health for non-life threatening injuries. The damage to both the Kia and Plymouth is estimated at $10,000.
While officers were still working the first accident, officers received another call around 9:05 PM for an accident that happened in the 700 block of South Delphine Ave. When officers arrived, they found a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina that had crossed over the median and struck a 2008 Kia head on. The Chevrolet then struck a utility pole. The driver of the Chevrolet, Michelle Lynn Powell, 42 years old, showed obvious signs of intoxication. She was treated at the scene for minor injuries and then arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Her blood alcohol level was .20. The condition of the other driver, a 44 year old New Hope woman, is not known. Both vehicles were totaled.
Powell is being held at Middle River Regional Jail. She will be given a bond hearing when she is sober. She will likely face a felony hit & run charge for the first charge.
Bosserman Crash Arrest

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro woman for causing a motor vehicle crash, in which she struck the same vehicle three times, on the Sheetz parking lot . On May 15, 2013 at approximately 7:40 AM, officers responded to the area of DuPont Community Credit Union, 2200 W Main St, for a report of a Ford Windstar mini-van that had swerved off W Main St and driven through the credit union’s yard. While officers were trying to locate the vehicle, they received another call from a motorist who indicated her vehicle, a Ford Explorer, had been struck while it was parked at Sheetz.
When officers arrived at Sheetz they found the Ford mini-van being operated by Cynthia Dawn Bosserman, 36 years old. Bosserman demonstrated obvious signs of impairment and was nearly incoherent when the officers tried to speak with her. It was determined Bosserman was under the influence of several prescription medications. She was attempting to park her vehicle at Sheetz when she struck the Ford Explorer. She backed up and struck the vehicle two more times before officers arrived. They arrested her for driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license.
Bosserman is being held at Middle River Regional Jail. There were no injuries from the accident. Damage to the two vehicles is estimated to be $1000.
Arrest: Jeremiah James Woodson

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Lyndhurst man wanted from three jurisdictions. On May 13 at approximately 11:45 AM, officers found Jeremiah James Woodson, 38 years old, at a residence in the 1100 block of New Hope Rd after an anonymous tipster advised the officers of Woodson’s whereabouts. He was arrested without incident. Woodson was wanted from Waynesboro on a circuit court capias for failing to appear as a witness in a felony drug case that was related to the April 2012 shooting at Quadrangle Apartments in which Woodson was the victim. He was also arrested on a felony warrant for destruction of property from Augusta County and an Amherst County General District Court capias for failing to appear on a charge of driving while being declared an habitual offender.
He is being held without bond in Middle River Regional Jail.
Staunton Pursuit

On May 9, 2013 at approximately 10:57 AM, members of the Virginia State Police, RUSH Drug Task Force and Waynesboro Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a target of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Charles Brown, 36 years old of Staunton, did initially stop on Route 262 in Augusta County, but then immediately fled when approached by Virginia State Police. Members of the RUSH Drug Task Force, Waynesboro Police Department and Virginia State Police initiated a pursuit with Brown, who fled toward Staunton on Route 262 and then along Shutterlee Mill Road. As Brown’s vehicle, a Dodge Avenger, entered the City of Staunton and continued to attempt to elude the pursuing officers, he threw a loaded pistol and a backpack containing additional evidence out the window along the pursuit route, both of which were later recovered by police. The pursuit ended in the 900 block of Grubert Avenue after a minor traffic crash with a Waynesboro Police Department patrol car, a Ford Crown Victoria. No injuries occurred and the suspect was immediately taken into custody by members of the RUSH Task Force and Virginia State Police.
Charles Brown is being held without bond on charges of felony eluding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

The Albemarle County Police Department arrested Fred William Quick, Jr, on May 6, 2013 at a residence in the North Garden part of the county. The apprehension is credited to an anonymous tipster who called in revealing his whereabouts. He is being held without bond at the Charlottesville Albemarle Joint Security Complex.
