Applications for Rezonings, Conditional Use Permits, Minor and Major Subdivision Plats, zoning ordinance text amendments, and Vacations of Streets/Alleys are processed and reviewed through the Planning Department who then forwards them as appropriate to City Council and Planning Commission for approval. To see procedures and fees, click on the appropriate downloadable form below. Instructions immediately follow the application form. Deadlines for submission of all applications normally falls on the first Thursday of the month and the application would then be scheduled for a subsequent month's Public Hearing of the Planning Commission and then to a separate public hearing of the City Council. NEWS:
The review process for rezoning and conditional use permit applications was changed February 2010. Instead of holding joint public hearings with the City Council and Planning Commission, the Planning Commission will be holding its own public hearing on an application and make a recommendation to the City Council who then will conduct its own subsequent public hearing on the matter prior to final approval. This new process allows more opportunity for public comment and staff review and actually streamlines the current process by reducing the number of required meetings.
