The City Planning Commission consists of six citizen members appointed by City Council plus one Council liaison. The Commission meets regularly each month on the Tuesday following the third Monday at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, Charles T. Yancey Municipal Building, 503 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA. Members are appointed to 4-year terms and are limited to no more than 2 1/2 full consecutive terms.
The purpose and role of the City Planning Commission is to advise City Council on all matters pertaining to land use planning and development. The City Planning Commission provides a basic resource to City Council on matters such as the review and evaluation of Rezoning and Conditional Use Permit requests, as well as preliminary subdivision plats. The Planning commission also participates in review of zoning ordinance amendments, review of the Comprehensive Plan, and other matters referred to it by the City Council.
