2nd Annual Park to Park Half Marathon

Saturday May 1st - 7:00 am

By all accounts the inaugural running of the Park to Park half marathon was a resounding success! The weather was perfect, the course was well marked, aid station volunteers were cheering and runners pounded the pavement for 13.1 miles of fun….well maybe some parts were painful but it was an ideal way to spend a morning in the mountains of Virginia. The men’s overall winner and making is half marathon debut was was Seth Hutchinson, of Charlottesville with a blistering time of 1:09:35. The women’s overall winner was Harrisonburg standout, Melissa Rittenhouse with a time of 1:23:56. Runners comments from 2009:

  • I had the most fun in this year's race more than in any other event, including Monument Ave 10K, New York City half, Charlottesville 10-miler, & Marine Corps Marathon. Great course, great people, great experience.

  • Race organization was absolutely flawless; all the volunteers (particularly at aid stations) did an excellent job. I will keep very fond memories and will certainly consider the event for the coming years.

  • Thought the race was great!  Kudos to you on your first event. Very well organized, and your communication through email was top notch.  It was my first time running up there and will be back next year with friends. Really enjoyed the free cold ice tea at the end.
