Knuckleboom Collection

The Department of Public Works now provides Monthly Bulk Refuse collection for all residents who are currently Weekly Refuse Collection customers. This collection is scheduled by VOTING WARDS and collected one Week of each month by Ward (effective May 2005).

In order for this service to work efficiently and fairly, the assistance and cooperation of all participants is a must. Please read and follow the guidelines provided

  • Residents should have debris they wish collected placed where your garbage is normally collected NO LATER THAN 6:00 AM at the start of your collection week;
  • Residents are limited to one truck load to be collected each pick up week of the month.
  • Place all junked items (white goods, tires, old furniture, etc.) neatly out of the travel way. Do not block street, sidewalk or alley.
  • This is not intended to be a leaf collection. Leaf collection begins the week after Thanksgiving, so piles can be raked to the front edge of property (NOT IN THE STREET) for pick up at that time. The City Operations will collect non-bagged leaves and the Knuckleboom will collect bagged leaves.
  • Materials not acceptable for collection will be left and the occupant will be responsible for proper disposal of those items.
  • For safety reasons, separate grindables (brush, palettes, wood, etc.) from non-grindables.
  • Make sure any white goods (televisions, refrigerators and other appliances) are uncovered. No brush should be on top of them.
  • This service is not able to pick up debris from the complete removal of trees and large shrubs.
  • Yard waste should be from the routine care and maintenance of lawns.
  • Remember to put household garbage into your refuse container for Weekly Refuse Collection by Ward (see Weekly Refuse Collection Days for changes to schedule).
