The Waynesboro Transportation Safety Commission has been charged by City Council with making recommendations to the City Manager relative to pedestrian, vehicular and bicycle transportation issues and to consider development-related transportation issues as they affect the level of service of the larger arterial system.
Currently, the commission works in tandem with City of Waynesboro staff in order to bring a high level of technical and citizen review to issues as they relate to the safety and enjoyment of the citizens of Waynesboro.
In previous years the commission has:
- Made budget recommendations to City Council relative to improving transportation safety review and to implementing transportation studies;
- Reviewed Sign & Traffic Control Requests in order to provide critical citizen insight;
Currently, the commission is working toward:
- Recognition of long range problems within the arterial system and examination of resulting neighborhood traffic issues;
- Implementation of Neighborhood a Traffic Calming Program to help mitigate issues of increasing traffic within neighborhood subdivision.
“Simply stated, a local request for a stop sign isn’t necessarily independent from the problems of the larger arterial system”
