We process by appointment only.
We will have the ability to process vehicle transactions only.
We cannot process any driver transactions, such as driver's licenses, learner's permits or ID cards.
We do have the ability to process driver and vehicle transcripts.
We will sell hunting and fishing licenses, as well as EZ Pass transponders.

E-Checks

You can now pay with e-check online through our self-service option on our website. There is a $1.50 fee per transaction. E-check payments can not be processed at the counter, online only.


Prepayments

The City of Waynesboro Treasurer's office does offer prepayments towards taxes, stormwater, utilities, etc. Any prepayments for taxes and stormwater will be based on the prior year amounts. You may begin prepaying in February of any year. We ask that you do not prepay in January, as we are reconciling over-payments from the December due date. The treasurer for the City of Waynesboro is responsible for the collection, processing, deposit, and maintaining all monies owed to and maintained by the city. Our office collects payments for:

The Treasurer's Office also collects and deposits into the State of Virginia’s account, state income and state estimated taxes that are processed by the commissioner of the revenue. Other responsibilities include maintaining and selling dog tags as required by city code, maintaining of burial records, selling cemetery burial lots, and burial permits.

Treasurer does not accept starter checks or checks that are not preprinted from the bank with completed information such as:

  • Account holder name
  • Address
  • Phone number

Delinquent Tax Information

  • If you are unable to pay your taxes in full by the specified due date, the Treasurer’s office does offer payment arrangements for personal property taxes and real estate taxes under certain circumstances.  For further information regarding payment arrangements, please contact our office at: (540) 942-6606.
