This 14-acre park is bordered by the South River. North Park offers something for everyone from picnicking, youth baseball, basketball, and a new playground.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN NORTH PARK TO BEGIN IN FEBRUARY 2020 E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Corteva Agriscience, began remediating mercury contamination along the South River in 2016. Since then, five river bank areas have been remediated and restored . In February, work will begin in North Park where approximately 1,500 feet of river bank will be remediated. The construction area will be fenced off for the duration of the project, which is expected to last approximately 12 months. Portions of the park including the baseball field, playground and parking lot will remain open during construction, however, the basketball court will be closed for the duration of the project. Construction activities will be conducted Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Several park improvements will be completed as part of the project, including provisions for the Greenway extension, improved river vistas and access, a new basketball court, a canoe/kayak ramp, and a river walking path (see artist rendering below).

Shelter & Playground
Playground Our new playground system features fun and adventure for youth of all ages. The swing set can entertain toddlers and older children, while the main structure provides two slides, climbing ladders, monkey bars and a chin-up bar. With benches located around the facility, parents are able to keep a watchful eye. Baseball field Waynesboro’s children are now playing on our first ever lighted baseball field! The new field, which was made possible due to a grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund in 2011 is home to the Waynesboro Cal Ripken Baseball League. The field has lights, new bleachers, concession stand, bathrooms, dugouts, fencing, in-ground irrigation, and a newly constructed infield.
