Kids Korner

The Fall of Fun lineup of FREE activities are listed below.

To get more details on any one of the activities or to sign up just click on the green Register button to the right. You will need to set up an account to register. Registration is easy though with just the basic info like name,  address, telephone number, email, kids names, and ages/grades (to determine program eligibility). The good news is you will only need to enter it once and then you will be able to quickly select the programs and people you want to sign up. Pre-registration is required for all activities.

All of the programs are outdoors in one of the city's parks. We will be following Covid-19 guidelines: socially distancing family groups, requiring masks for certain activities, supplying hand sanitizing stations, and the like. Please be sure to read the the full description for each activity so you know what to expect.

Let's get out and have some fun this fall!

Storybook Crafts (k-2nd grade)

Join Parks and Recreation and the Waynesboro Public Library for a trip to your imagination. We'll listen to a special story and then create a craft that relates to it.  This activity is geared to children, k-2nd grade, and parents (or designated adult) need to stay with their child. There is no charge, but online pre-registration is required.

Sign up for all, or just the session that you are most interested in.  All activities will be held at the shelter at North Park, so if you want some extra fun... check out the awesome playground there too.

Because keeping our community is healthy is important, the following COVID-19 precautions will be implemented:  Everyone is required to wear a mask, participants (and parents) will be spread out the individual tables to help with social distancing, and handwashing will be available as needed. In addition, we will get to enjoy some nice fresh air!

Positive Paws Read to a Pup

Who is better to read to than man's best friend.  The pups are certified therapy dogs who want nothing more than to make your little one feel comfortable and safe.  In this program participants are provided a furry friend to read to who will not mind if they make a mistake or stumble over a word. Each kid enjoys cuddling with them after reading time is over!

This program is intended for children Pre-K through 5th grade. Meet at the Woodland Shelter in Ridgeview Park.

Part of the time at this program will be selecting and reading to a pup.  Feel free to allow your child to bring their own book if they would like.  We will also have a selection of books available to choose form.  The other part of this program will be enjoying a story read to you by the Waynesboro Public Library's Children's Coordinator.
