Instructional Classes

All instructional classes meet at Rosenwald  community center, unless stated otherwise.  Preregistration required for all classes, but  participants may start any time.
Ballroom Dancing
These classes will give you confidence, grace, and lots of enjoyment as you head out to the dance floor.  Learn (or brush up on) popular dances such as: the Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Cha-Cha and the Rumba.  Experienced instructor, Donald Dollins, will be offering two different level classes… one for beginners and another for intermediate dancers.   For additional information and/or to register, please contact Mr. Dollins at 540-337-3173.

Join others to try out those ballroom steps you’ve recently learned, or that you’ve done for years! There will be open dance sessions the first Friday of each month at Westwood Elementary School. Call Don at (540) 337-3173 if you plan on attending. 6:30-8pm $6/night
Fit For Life
No better time than the present to begin to get FIT FOR LIFE! This class can help you on your way by: burning fat, relieving stress, up-beat music, great routines, hi/low impact aerobics, tips offered for weight reduction and much more.   Instructor:   Penny Gilbert

Intro to Knitting & Crocheting

If you are a beginner, you can learn the basic stitches for both in one two hour class. Or, if you know the basics and simply need help with a pattern or project, bring it in for some assistance. Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn and needles, but it’s not required, as they will be provided to any students who need them. Instructor: Vickey Lawson

Fun in Motion Line Dancing
Come alone or with a friend! This new class will teach students the basic line dance steps, in addition to providing some moderate exercise in a fun and social atmosphere. Class will be held form 6-7pm on Tuesdays.
Cost is $28/ month or $8.50/ drop-in class.
Plus Level Square Dancing

Learn-by-Doing Plus Level square dance course is starting soon! Instructor/Caller will be George Jordan from Staunton, along with assistance from members of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club. Completion of Basic/Mainstream levels a prerequisite. The course includes 15 individual progressive lessons for $75/person. Family rates are available. Praise Dance

Let the music move you! This class will provide youth between the ages of 4-17 an outlet to learn new dances to gospel music. Some dances will be choreographed by the instructor, but many will be put together by the students. Once established, the praise team will have opportunities to perform their routines in public. Roll Reversal: Caring for your Aging Parents
Nearly 20 million Americans – now known as the sandwich generation – are raising kids or supporting an adult child while providing financial support to an aging parent. The costs of caring for a parent can have a dramatic financial impact. The workshop will cover how to initiate the dialogue with parents, devise a legacy plan, considering legal issues including a living will and medical directives and plan housing options and pay for health care. Stretch and Tone

Tai Chi For Beginners

Tai Chi For Health
Learn soft flowing, gentle movements which will improve your balance, flexibility, and coordination. Yoga (1)

This class is a fun mix of traditional & modern styles of yoga. A multi-level class, tailored to each student's needs. Yogis are encouraged to seek physical comfort and relaxation while moving through the postures, while meditating on the breath and cultivating peace of mind. Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a yoga mat if possible. Open to Adults & Teens, all levels welcome. Instructor: Elle d'Orado
