Story Walks are a great way to get the whole family moving, active, and reading together! They encourage both literacy and physical activity. An illustrated Children’s book will be posted page by page along the South River Greenway so participants can read the story as they walk the path.
During this session of Story Walks® you will be enjoying the book “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth” by Eric Carle.
We ask that you maintain 6 feet of social distance from any participants or patrons of the Greenway that do not live in your household. Please wear a mask when this is not possible.
You will begin the Story Walk® by meeting Waynesboro Public Library’s Family Programming Coordinator at the Dominion Shelter for a brief introduction. From there you will be given instruction and then you are off of enjoy your story adventure!
There will also be an opportunity to sign up for a library card and to ask questions about the Library’s current offerings of Curbside Pickup, e-book access, and more.
All Ages Welcome.
The Dominion Shelter is located along the South River, across the street from Constitution Park Pavilion.
Dominion Shelter, 215 Mc Elroy St., Waynesboro, VA 22980
This program is intended for children Pre-K through 5th grade.
Who is better to read to than man's best friend. The pups are certified therapy dogs who want nothing more than to make your little one feel comfortable and safe.
In this program participants are provided a furry friend from Positive Paws to read to who will not mind if they make a mistake or stumble over a word. Each kid enjoys cuddling with them after reading time is over!
Part of the time at this program will be selecting and reading to a pup. Feel free to allow your child to bring their own book if they would like.
We will also have a selection of books available to choose form. The other part of this program will be enjoying a story read to you by the Waynesboro Public Library's Children's Coordinator.
Attendees and participants are asked to wear a mask when social distancing of 6 feet or more cannot be maintained.
This event takes place outdoors in and around the Ridgeview Woodlands Shelter.
Please understand that this will be weather dependent. In the case of inclement weather a session may need to be cancelled. If this were to happen you would receive correspondence via email which you will provide here when registering.
The last program, on October 29, the Pups from Positive Paws will be wearing Halloween Costumes and all attendees are encouraged to wear costumes too!
