Bulk Collection

Beginning July 1, 2014, the current rotating ward collection program will change to a Work Order initiated collection program. Prior to placement of bulk items out for collection, a request will need to be initiated by the customer. Request may be made in person at PW Operations, located at 900 Essex Ave; by calling Refuse Administration at (540) 942-6764 by faxing an Application for Bulk Collection to (540) 942-6769 or by submitting an on line request found to the right under Quick Links. Upon receipt of request, Refuse Administration will clarify request and guidelines as needed, establish pickup location and schedule pickup. Notice of issued Work Order will be sent to customer no less than 14 days prior to scheduled pickup and debris may be placed out no sooner than 7 days prior to noted collection date.

The fee schedule for the new program within a calendar year are as follows:

Bulk Fee Schedule
  1. Program Guidelines
  2. We WILL Collect
  3. We Will NOT Collect
  • Items shall be placed out for collection no earlier than seven days prior to collection.  Items shall not be placed prior to receiving a confirmation for collection from the City of Waynesboro Department of Public Works.
  • Items should not be placed against fences, sheds, utility poles or other structures or under utility wires.
  • Place all junked items (white goods, tires, old furniture, etc.) neatly out of the travel way.  Do not block street, sidewalk or alley.
  • This is not intended to be a leaf collection. Leaf collection begins the week after Thanksgiving, so piles can be raked to the front edge of property (NOT IN THE STREET) for pick up at that time. The City Operations will collect non-bagged leaves and the Knuckleboom will collect bagged leaves.
  • Materials not acceptable for collection will be left and the occupant will be responsible for proper disposal of those items.
  • For safety reasons, separate grindables (brush, palettes, wood, etc.) from non-grindables.
  • Make sure any white goods (televisions, refrigerators and other appliances) are uncovered. No brush should be on top of them.
  • This service is not able to pick up debris from the complete removal of trees and large shrubs (see sizing guidelines below).
  • Yard waste should be from the routine care and maintenance of lawns.
  • Remember to put household garbage into your refuse container for Weekly Refuse Collection by Ward (see Weekly Refuse Collection Days for changes to schedule).
  • The service is intended to collect refuse generated on or otherwise originating from the property designated for collection.
