Help us realize the dream of building Sunset Park.
The landfill property will make its transition from closed landfill to Sunset Park in phases. The initial phase, currently in planning, will focus on access improvements and a basic blueprint for development including engineering plans and construction cost estimates. The drawing to the right shows the current plan for the core of the park featuring parking, overlooks, facilities and a shelter. Although the funds raised from this event will not be substantial enough to make major strides in construction, it is hoped there will be money to initiate an interpretive signage program so visitors will be able to make important connections to the past, present, and future.
It is a unique location with a unique history. When thinking of this park and the connections it makes to the greater region, excitement stirs. There is a rich potential here for the city and its citizens to draw from. We hope you come to the dinner so you can see it, taste it, and ultimately, support it.
