Waynesboro City General Registrar and Director of Elections, Lisa Jeffers, recently issued a public notice encouraging citizens to use absentee voting by mail.
“The health and wellbeing of our dedicated staff, as well as our voters are our number one priority,” said Jeffers. “In an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and protect the health and safety of our voters and staff, the Waynesboro City Voter Registration Offices are encouraging the use of absentee voting by mail, using the absentee code 2A. No supporting information is required using this code.
“City Hall offices are currently closed (Yancey Building)” The Gorsuch Building/Courthouse is still open to the public. However, the office door to the Director of Elections Office will be locked during working hours and afterward. You should call ahead to alert the office you will be coming to vote absentee: 540-942-6620. Please be advised the deadline to request a ballot by mail for the May City Election is April 28th.”
Voters can request an absentee ballot at www.elections.virginia.gov Voters also may email their request for an absentee ballot to: email@example.com The office phone is 540-942-6620. If you download the Absentee Ballot Application, you can complete it and email it to the Director of Elections as well.
The online portal is always an option to register to vote as well as apply for an absentee ballot. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, April 13th, 2020 for the May 5th, 2020 Election. Our office will keep you up to date on any changes to the Election process.
