[ARCHIVED] Parks for Pollinator BioBlitz

Parks and Recreation is hosting a BioBlitz event at Coyner Springs Park as part of the national Parks for Pollinators campaign, which is aimed at raising public awareness of the importantance of pollinators and and the important role parks play in advancing pollinator health and habitat. Organized by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz event is held each year during September. Community members may participate on their own any time Coyner Springs Park is open throughout the month or with help from park staff during the Kite Day event, Saturday, September 25.

It's easy to participate all you need is a cell phone or tablet that can take pictures. Download the iNaturalist app and search for the Coyner Springs Park for Pollinators project. Once you join the project, every observation you make within Coyner Springs Park will be uploaded to the project automatically. You will be able to see the number of observations grow in real time and see what plants and insects others found throughout the park. Don't worry if you observe the same plant or insect as someone all goes into getting a snapshot of the variety and quantity of pollinators and habitat they need to survive!

Complete instructions can be found on the BioBlitz event page on the Parks and Recreation website.
