[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested after He Assaults & Robs Girlfriend

Jeffrey Floyd Massie

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man after he beat and robbed his girlfriend last Tuesday night. Jeffrey Floyd Massie, 30 years old, is facing a felony strong armed robbery and misdemeanor assault & battery stemming from a brutal attack on a 27 year old Waynesboro woman that reportedly started in Charlottesville earlier in the day Tuesday.

On May 19 at approximately 9:30 PM, the victim walked into the lobby of the Police Department bloodied and crying. She claimed to have just been assaulted by Massie at their residence in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue. According to the victim, she and Massie were in Charlottesville earlier in the day when they got into an argument that turned physical. She said Massie assaulted her and continued to assault her on the return trip to Waynesboro. When they got to their home, Massie grabbed the victim by the hair and face and dragged her on the ground. He also stole money, jewelry and a cell phone from her. She was able to get away from him and picked up by a Good Samaritan who brought her to the Police Department. The Waynesboro First Aid Crew transported her to Augusta Health to be treated for injuries to her mouth, nose and arm.

On May 21, the victim came back to the Police Department after her discharge from the hospital to meet with the investigating officer. Unfortunately for her, there was an active capias for her from Harrisonburg/Rockingham County. After giving a complete statement on Tuesday's assault, she was arrested. She is being held without bond at Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail.

On May 22, officers arrested Massie at his residence without incident. He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
