The Waynesboro Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to help identify a woman who stole $200 in cash and a debit card from a Staunton woman at a city gas station last weekend. On April 24 at approximately 8:00 PM, the 22 year old victim was at the BP Station, 2900 West Main Street, making a purchase. She had cash in an envelope and took $20 out to pay for her merchandise. She set the envelope, which contained an additional $200 and a debit card, on the counter. After receiving her change, she left the store forgetting the envelope. When she got to her vehicle, she realized her mistake and went back in the store but couldn’t find her property.
Surveillance images provided by the store show a slender white female with blonde hair and dark roots approach the register and finding the envelope. It also appears that she has a tattoo on the underside of her right forearm. She inspects the envelope’s contents and leaves the store with it after completing her purchase. The suspect was two customers behind the victim. Surveillance images captured outside the store show her getting into a dark colored 4 door vehicle.
Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call Officer J Feazell at the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017.
