[ARCHIVED] Brothers Arrested in Assaults

Dallas Lee Brooks

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested two Waynesboro brothers stemming from a weekend fight that injured a Waynesboro couple. Justin William Brooks, 23 years old, and Dallas Lee Brooks, 30 years old, both face assault charges after the Saturday afternoon altercation. The Brooks are related by marriage to the victims and the fight was regarding an earlier domestic dispute.

At approximately 5:10 PM on July 18, officers responded to the 100 block of North Delphine Avenue for report of a fight. By the time the officers arrived, the brothers had already fled. The officers spoke with the male and female victims, aged 49 and 46 respectively. They told officers that Dallas Brooks and the male victim were having an argument when Dallas sucker-punched him in the face. The male victim grabbed a small wooden bat to protect himself when Justin Brooks attempted to intercede between the two. The victim gave the bat to Justin. However, when the argument resumed between Dallas and the victim, Justin used the bat to strike the victim in the head. At this point, the female victim tackled Justin to the ground. Justin responded by striking her in the chest with the bat.

The Waynesboro First Aid Crew transported the male victim to Augusta Health. The female victim refused medical treatment.

Officers arrested Dallas Brooks on a misdemeanor charge of Assault & Battery at his home on July 19. Justin Brooks surrendered himself on two felonies, Malicious Wounding and Felonious Assault, at the Police Department on July 20. He also faces a probation violation. Dallas Brooks is free on a personal recognizance bond; Justin Brooks is being held without bail at Middle River Regional Jail.
