[ARCHIVED] Dayton Man Arrested in Sexual Assault of Girl

Clemens, Alexander Joseph

September 6, 2015

The Waynesboro Police Department has charged a Rockingham County man for sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl earlier in the summer. Alexander Joseph Clemens, 20 years old of Dayton, faces one felony charge of Aggravated Sexual Battery stemming from the mid July assault on the Waynesboro girl. Clemens also molested the victim in Staunton on the same day after they left Waynesboro. The Staunton Police Department charged Clemens in August with the same offense because of the assault and an additional misdemeanor charge of Penetration of Mouth of Child with Lascivious Intent. Clemens is a friend of the victim’s family.

In early August, the victim’s family notified the Staunton Police Department about the assault. After an initial interview with the victim at the Children’s Advocacy Center, it was determined that the victim was molested at locations is both Staunton and Waynesboro. Detectives from both departments conducted a joint criminal investigation.

On July 19, 2015, the victim and a family member of hers met with Clemens at a location in Staunton. He agreed to give them a ride to Waynesboro. After dropping off the family member at a Waynesboro location, Clemens was alone with the victim. The victim reported that on numerous occasions Clemens touched her on her genitals and upper thigh. He also kissed her with an open mouth. They returned to Staunton later in the night and Clemens continued to touch her inappropriately.

Clemens was arrested on the Staunton charges on August 7 in Staunton. He was arrested on the Waynesboro charge on September 3 by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

He is at Middle River Regional Jail with bond.
