Cooper, Maranda Nicole

Update – November 19, 2015

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a New York City couple in connection with the multi-jurisdictional credit card fraud spree. Through the assistance of the community, officers were able to locate and identify the suspects who had set up their criminal operations at a Waynesboro hotel.

Khaleeq Taariq Fisher, 22 years old of Brooklyn, and Maranda Nicole Cooper, 21 years old of Staten Island, both face four felonies stemming from this past weekend’s crime spree. The break in the case came yesterday evening when officers were alerted by tipster who saw the story on local media outlets that the couple was staying at the Residence Inn in Waynesboro. Armed with a search warrant, officers searched the room and found evidence of credit card cloning and several thousand dollars’ worth of gift cards.

Both face the following charges:

• Credit Card Forgery (two counts)
• Credit Card Theft Fraud
• Credit Card Larceny

Fisher and Cooper are being held on $5,000 and $3,000 bonds, respectively, at Middle River Regional Jail. Their 14 month old son was turned to the custody of Child Protective Services.
The investigation is ongoing.
