[ARCHIVED] Drunk Woman a Handful for Police

Boxley, Loren Elizabeth

December 16, 2015

The Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Stuarts Draft woman after she fought with an officer early Tuesday morning when he attempted to take her into custody for public intoxication. Loren Elizabeth Boxley, 44 years old, faces three charges included a felony for Assault & Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer stemming from the encounter.

On December 15, 2015 at approximately 1:10 AM, an officer observed a parked 2011 Buick SUV with its radio blaring at the Park & Ride off Shenandoah Village Drive. Boxley, the sole vehicle occupant, was in the driver’s seat. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Boxley and she exhibited signs of drunkenness. He also noticed empty alcohol containers in the vehicle.

Boxely became belligerent with the officer as he tried to find her a ride. After several failed attempts to locate her alternate transportation, the officer told Boxley she was under arrest for public intoxication. At this point, Boxley tried to close the vehicle door on the officer. He was able to grab her wrist but Boxley responded by grabbing the officer’s bulletproof vest and tried to push him. The officer was finally able to get Boxley in custody and restrained in his police vehicle.

At the police department, Boxley’s aggressive behavior continued by kicking her shoes at officers and being disruptive during the hearing with the magistrate. In addition to the felony assault, she faces misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and obstruction of justice.

She is being at Middle River Regional Jail.
