[ARCHIVED] Be a Part of the METAMORPHOSIS – Landfill to Park

PW Day 2014

This will be the third year of our community asset management venture. For the last two years our community base has come together to participate in a day of cooperative planting of a meadow on the top of our landfill, and hiking the trails for the day to experience the potential of this community asset becoming a park. We also included a wide range of informational presentations over the years, from plans for South River asset development to the potential link among the Appalachian Trail, the Crozet Tunnel, and the Landfill Future Park bike/hiking trails. This year we will take a look at the future of our infrastructure and discover how Public Works is promoting existing asset management and responsible practices. We will also explore what’s “Under the City”. As always, we will offer our unique blend of hands-on activities for children and informational presentations for adults.
Food and bathroom facilities will be available. Raffle prizes will include plants donated by Waynesboro Landscape and Garden Center.
