  3. Traffic safety concerns are reviewed by the Engineering Division of Public Works. Once the application is received a Cartegraph request number will be assigned and you will receive an email with this request number within (2) two weeks. Depending on the issue selected, staff will review: MUTCD Code, Crash Data, Daily Traffic Volume, and will make a site visit if necessary. In some cases an outside safety expert may be required.

    If checking the status of your request you can email or leave a voicemail on the Engineering extension at 540-942-6624 (Option 7). Please provide your Cartegraph request number when checking your status.

    If your issue does not currently meet the requirements for signage installation, etc. then staff will perform a periodic review of the area of concern to track any changes.
